Whether you want to meet up with friends for a quick drink or spend the night playing some retro video games (yes, we said video games) while sipping on your favorite drink, New Haven is the place to be.

With a name like Bar, it has to be on the list of best New Haven bars! Try one of the house beers like the Bar Lager or the Bar or the Bar Hop Fusions. If you don’t like those, don’t worry; Bar is always adding some new ones to its list. If you’re not a beer person, there are cocktails like The Classic Bar Lemonade and the Bar Daiquiri.

Don’t forget to order some food to go along with your drinks. Bar is not only a great bar, but it’s also a fantastic pizza joint. There are so many different types of pizzas to choose from, but our favorite has to be the mashed potato and bacon pie.

Geronimo Tequila Bar

Did someone say tequila? Geronimo Southwest Grill and Tequila Bar has the largest tequila selection on the East Coast. The tequila collection of nearly 100 different types includes Casa Dragones Blanco,  Herradura Double Barrel Reposado, and 1800 Silver, just to name a few. Enjoy cocktail specials like the Mango Habanero Margarita or the Lowrider. You really can’t go wrong here! 

While the drinks are muy bueno, you can’t forget about the cuisine. Geronimo’s authentic Santa Fe menu is based on classic foods of the Apache and Navajo peoples, mixed in with some Spanish and Anglo-Saxon influences. Great drinks plus great food equals an amazing night!

Barcade
56 Orange St.

What do you get when you combine an arcade and a bar? It’s Barcade and there’s one right in New Haven. Barcade is the largest arcade bar operator in the United States. Expect to see anywhere between 40-75 video games and pinball machines, mostly from the 1980s. 

You can also try one of up to 30 American craft beers on draft.  Barcade occasionally works with some great American craft breweries to bring unique beers in small batches. Don’t like beer? No problem. There are some pretty cool drinks on the menu like Smoky Paloma or the Lava Man. 

While you’re playing and drinking, you’re probably going to want a snack. Barcade serves food too with menu items such as loaded fries, burgers, and of course tater tots…take it way back with a childhood snack to go along with those retro games!

Ordinary

Don’t let the name fool you. There’s nothing ordinary about this New Haven bar which is one of New Haven’s oldest taverns. You enter Ordinary by ringing a Ring camera doorbell where a host greets you and lets you inside. There’s a good amount of seating at the bar as well as two-person tables in the front, and larger tables in the back.

Enjoy amazing drinks from a pretty intense cocktail menu. The cocktail guide includes some unique concoctions with drinks like “Spiced Popcorn”, “Strawberry Wine”, and “Port of Call”. There are also plenty of beers on the menu like Black Hog Granola Brown and Allagash. 

Besides the drinks, Ordinary offers some unique snacks and food to share. How about some beer cheese or a lamb dog? Talk about something different! We told you there was nothing ordinary about this place!

Trinity Bar

The New Haven bar scene wouldn’t be complete without a traditional Irish Pub. That’s just what you get at Trinity Bar.  If you love your beer, this place is for you. There are plenty of beers on tap and they change frequently. So, every time you visit, you can try something new!

Trinity offers a full-service bar and restaurant featuring live music, sports, and a casual atmosphere. You’ll feel like you’re in Dublin when you step in. Try the beef and Guinness stew or Shane’s Shepherd Pie for a taste of Ireland. Trinity Bar is a fun place with a chill atmosphere which is one of the reasons why it’s so popular in the Elm City.
